چکیده

-This work concerns systems of quasi-linear first-order hyperbolic partial differential equations (PDEs) with uncertain variables and unmodeled dynamics. For systems with uncertain variables, the problem of complete elimination of the effect of uncertainty on the output via distributed feedback (uncertainty decoupling) is initially considered; a necessary and sufficient condition for its solvability as well as explicit controller synthesis formulas are derived. Then, the problem of synthesizing a distributed robust controller that achieves asymptotic output tracking with arbitrary degree of attenuation of the effect of uncertain variables on the output of the closed-loop system is addressed and solved. Robustness with respect to unmodeled dynamics is studied within a singular perturbation framework. It is established that controllers which are synthesized on the basis of a reduced-order slow model, and achieve uncertainty decoupling or uncertainty attenuation, continue to enforce these objectives in the presence of unmodeled dynamics, provided that they are stable and sufficiently fast. The developed controller synthesis results are successfully implemented through simulations on a fixed-bed reactor, modeled by two quasi-linear first-order hyperbolic PDEs, where the reactant wave propagates through the bed with significantly larger speed than the heat wave, and the heat of reaction is unknown and time varying. © 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd

Stability analysis and feedback control of T-S fuzzy hyperbolic delay model for a class of nonlinear systems with time-varying delay

In this paper, a new T-S fuzzy hyperbolic delay model for a class of nonlinear systems with time-varying delay, is presented to address the problems of stability analysis and feedback control. Fuzzy controller is designed based on the parallel distributed compensation (PDC), and with a new Lyapunov function, delay dependent asymptotic stability conditions of the closed-loop system are derived v...

Compensation of actuator dynamics governed by quasilinear hyperbolic PDEs

We present a methodology for stabilization of general nonlinear systems with actuator dynamics governed by a certain class of, quasilinear, first-order hyperbolic PDEs. Since for such PDE–ODE cascades the speed of propagation depends on the PDE state itself (which implies that the prediction horizon cannot be a priori known analytically), the key design challenge is the determination of the pre...

Boundary Control Design for Cascades of Hyperbolic 2× 2 PDE systems via Graph Theory

This article is concerned with the design of boundary control laws for stabilizing systems of 2 × 2 first order quasi-linear hyperbolic PDEs. A new graph representation of such systems represents the interactions between the characteristic curves and the boundary control laws, the invariant graph, is introduced. The structure of the invariant graph is used to design stabilizing control laws and...

Exact Global Controllability of Semilinear Thermoelastic Systems

Results of exact controllability will be reported for a semilinear thermoelastic system, with control placed in either the mechanical or thermal equation. The controlled partial differential equation (PDE) model will be considered in two cases: (i) rotational forces are present in the PDE, in which case, the underlying dynamics evince hyperbolic behavior; (ii) the rotational inertia parameter i...
